Board of Directors

United Way of the Fraser Valley’s Board of Directors is made up of leaders in our communities. Drawing on experience from many different occupations and backgrounds, these volunteers serve two-year tersm.

The 2010-2011 President is Kristine Bienert, a chartered accountant for British Columbia Utilities Commission, who has served on the local United Way board for three years. “My first role was in 1999 as a campaign chair in Edmonton. I was a new articling student and the opportunity came up - I took it!” said Bienert.

Bienert wants to increase understanding of what United Way’s purpose and role in the Fraser Valley is. “I see a lot of potential and opportunity in our communities - there are so many good people who want to help others. I hope we can connect these resources with those who need them most,” she said.

Joining the Board of Directors is also Frank Dunham, Superintendent Mission School District, Rose Shawleee, Baker Newby LLP, Kenny Jones, Rogers Country 107.1, Deborah Mohr, Branch Manager BMO Bank of Montreal, Linda Sonmor, Ministry of Social Development and Fraser Valley Labour Council.

“Adding five new board members has really increased our "bench strength." These new volunteers bring great talent and experience. We are very fortunate to have our entire board complement and I am confident our communities will benefit from the contributions of this great team,” said Bienert.

“Plus, it’s great to see people helping people in their local communities, especially in economically challenging times.”
