The United Way helps kids be all they can be, move families from poverty to possibility and build stronger communities. Across the Fraser Valley, we help make our community better. Vibrant Abbotsford, an initiative of the United Way, is an organization dedicated to building a more vibrant city through the reduction of poverty.

The position of Project Coordinator will work under the direction of Managers at the United Way and Vibrant Abbotsford. This individual is a self-starter that has the ability to work independently, while contributing to a team. They are highly organized and have experience with coordinating multiple tasks and projects. They are outgoing and a great communicator, both verbally and in written form.

Position Profile

  • Coordinate community special events and projects in the not-for-profit sector by liaising with community agencies to increase participation among priority groups
  • Execute the graphic design plan for marketing materials
  • Engage the public using social media via Facebook, Twitter, website (Concrete5) and blog
  • Help create a newsletter, promotional materials and brochure
  • Manage a email distribution list (Constant Contact and MailChimp).
  • Draft media releases and engage media outlets
  • Must have experience with e-mail, MS Office Suite (Word, Excel and PowerPoint)
  • Must have experience with the Adobe Design Series (InDesign, Illustrator and Photoshop)
  • Has the ability to work independently under direction.
  • Contributes to the team by sharing information and expertise
  • Second language is preferred but not required
  • Ability to perform light physical duties such as carrying boxes, and pitch in as needed

Education:

  • Enrolled and returning to a post-secondary institution for Fall 2017

Experience/Skills:

  • Must have experience with e-mail, MS Office Suite (Word, Excel and PowerPoint)

  • Has the ability to work independently under direction.
